About

I am Levente. Originally from Hungary, currently living in sunny South Florida. After years of hard work, I defended my PhD dissertation in 2018 at the University of Florida. I guess that makes me a scientist. Since January 2019 I am a Research Associate at the Geographic Information Systems Center @ Florida International University.

I have a strong background in geography and GIS so my interests really vary in space and time. Besides hiking, cycling and other outdoor activities I mostly deal with new tendencies in GIS and computer science. It is not hard to impress me with any kind of innovative spatial stuff.

The key word of this blog is “OPEN”.  What you find on this site is most probably a product of (Free and) Open Source Software / Open Data or other trendy terms. I honestly believe that our future is open and this is the right direction for us.
